In 2003 tenants from across the region came together to discuss the possibility of setting up a federation of tenants and residents groups for Yorkshire & The Humber.
Four years later YHF is going from strength to strength. We have over 100 tenant and resident group members from across the region, representing residents from both the local authority and housing association sectors. Our committee members ( YHF People) represent all part of our diverse region, from Sheffield to Richmond and Kirklees to Hull.
YHF is the recognised voice of tenants and residents across the region. We are currently funded by the Dept for Communities (DCLG) and Local Government and the Yorkshire and Humberside Housing Forum. We have places on the Forum and the Regional Housing Board.
On the 7th March 2008 YHF signed a Joint Protocol agreement with the Government Office for Yorkshire and the Humber (GOYH), the Regional Assembly and the Regional Housing Forum to develop ways of collaberative working.
YHF produces regular Members Briefings and holds events around the region on matters of concern to tenants and residents. Seminars to date have been on issues such as anti-social behaviour, stock options and choice-based lettings. We also produce information sheets to accompany some of these sessions, which can be ordered online.
We respond to consultation papers published by the DCLG and others and give our members across the region opportunities to contribute to our response by attending workshops. You can give us your thoughts on line by going to the ‘What do you think?’ section of this website.
